When to go?
Whitewater season runs from April through October. Spring is the peak season when the water runs highest and springtime rafters will also be rewarded with the sight of stunning wildflowers dotting the hillsides.

Different Experience Levels
The American River is broken up into several sections or “Forks,” all offering varying rapids and experiences. The South Fork offers everything from calm Class II and III rapids through stronger Class V sections, making this section the perfect location for families and first-time looking for a fun day on the river. Adrenaline junkies seeking more extreme adventures will want to try a day on the Middle Fork and North Fork, which offer exciting Class IV and V rapids.

- Generation Gap: A steep 12-mile section on the North Fork offering fast class V rapids for advanced paddlers.
- Tunnel Cute: This section of Middle Fork was famously created when miners during the Gold Rush blasted through the mountainside. Hold on tight this section features steep drops and ends with a tunnel!
- Staircase: On the North Fork section of the river, this section offers almost ten miles of Class IV excitement with tons of big boulders and drops!
