Starting Aug. 29, 2022, a stretch of the American River Parkway Trail—from the El Manto entrance to the Sunriver Park entrance—will be closed for two months for construction. Learn more here.
Officially known as the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, this paved two-lane path follows the American River for 32 miles. The trail runs between Discovery Park in Old Sacramento Folsom Lake. Perfect for cyclists, walkers, and runners, the trail includes mile markers, maps, water fountains, and restrooms. You will pass several parks and recreation areas along the way too. Look out for the beautiful bridges crossing overhead, including the Guy West Suspension Bridge and the Fair Oaks Bridge, which dates back to the early 1900s.
