Water Bound

visit-rancho-cordova-tourist-itinerary-for-the-waterA summer must-do. Grab your friends or family and float the American River in a raft from American River Raft Rentals. This leisurely float mixes in a little whitewater action in the San Juan rapids. Stay cool on a stand up paddleboard (SUP) or kayak on Lake Natoma. The Sacramento State Aquatic Center offers a variety of affordable rentals. Adjoining Nimbus Flat Lake Natoma State Park offers lake-side picnic tables, swimming, and access to the American River Parkway Trail. In the evening, hit the pool at one of Rancho Cordova’s many hotels.

Whitewater: For thrill seekers, head up Highway 50 to the South Fork of the American River, where Class II-III rapids await. For big fist-pumping action, try the Middle Fork or North Fork of the American River with Class IV rapids.

Tip: For fishing fun, schedule a fly fishing excursion on the American River with one of the expert guides at Fish Habit Outfitters.
