Fuel your competitive spirit and support local non-profits by participating in the Great American Triathlon. This NO-SWIM triathlon features a 24.42-mile course combining running, cycling, and paddling through the scenic American River Parkway.

Teams:
Teams can have 2 or 3 members for single-seat kayak and canoe categories, and up to 4 members for tandem seat kayak and canoe categories. Competitors may enter only one team or ironperson category.
Awards:
Awards are given to the top three finishers in each category. Note: if fewer than 3 teams are in a category 4 weeks before the race, only the top team will receive an award.
Course Description:
- Run: 5.8 miles downriver from William B. Pond Park to Cal State University, Sacramento.
- Cycle: 12.5 miles from Sac State to Sunrise Bridge in Fair Oaks.
- Paddle: 6.1 miles from Sunrise Bridge to River Bend Park in Rancho Cordova.
Event Objectives:
The Great American Triathlon aims to raise funds to preserve and support the American River Parkway and local children’s charities. It’s about both athletic competition and showcasing the beauty of the American River Parkway.
Race Day Conditions:
Temperatures range from 60 to 73 degrees at the start and 72 to 88 degrees by mid-day.
Event Safety:
- Report to a race official if you quit the race before the finish line.
- Earbuds and similar devices are discouraged.
- Helmets are required for cyclists and paddlers.
- Paddlers must wear shoes and a U.S. Coast Guard-approved Personal Flotation Device.
- No leashes on watercraft or paddles.
- Watercraft participants must be able to self-rescue.
- Only registered competitors are allowed on the course.
