May Open Garden
May 11, 2024
Spring is GO time in the garden. Come see for yourself! Bring your curiosity and your questions. The UC Master Gardeners of Sacramento County will have volunteers available throughout the diverse 1-acre garden to field your questions.
Blooms are transitioning to fruits with the help of pollinators in the orchard, vineyard and berry gardens. Nets are being spread to shield berries from hungry birds. Pheromone lures are in the apple trees to monitor for codling moths. Herbs are planted in the new international culinary beds. The vegetable garden is again being populated with All American Selections, among others varieties. The water efficient landscape area has numerous subsections for viewing including popular plants, wildlife habitat plants, perennials and streetscape plantings. And the compost section is where the magic begins with worms actively making castings to nourish tender roots.
All are welcome!
Located Outside: Rain or shine.
