Beginning this July, the multi-destination partnership is continuing to market internationally, now with the assistance of Brand USA.
While Rancho Cordova Travel & Tourism could elect to advertise with Brand USA independently, GCVA will be putting $10,000 towards advertisement of the region with Brand USA.
GCVA continues to market Gold Country to Canadian visitors with DCI. This is especially important given the organic drop of Canadian tourists to America since 2017. GCVA will be participating in a cross-country media trip at the end of September in partnership with Visit California. Special thanks to DoubleTree Rancho Cordova for hosting Canadian media this summer!
GCVA is planning on attending IPW 2019 and coordinating pre and post FAM trips within Gold Country. Several partners, including Rancho Cordova, are discussing a co-op space s for IPW. Please attend further marketing meetings for updates!
Also in July, Leena attended Destinations International Annual Convention in Anaheim CA. In addition to attending a course in the Fundamentals of Destination Management & Marketing, she participated in general sessions, networking events designed for small destinations and several specialized sessions. She recommends that, given our new membership with Destinations International, RCTT participate in the Destination NEXT Futures study, educational conferences for both staff and board members and DMAP (Destination Marketing Accreditation Program). The accreditation would ensure that RCTT has established the industry's best practices within its organizational structure. Destinations who have participated in DMAP include Visit Colorado Springs, Visit San Jose, CA, My Nevada County and City of Montrose.
