August: The Brief

August Update

Annual Rancho Cordova Travel & Tourism Board Retreat

RCTT convened a board of directors retreat on August 31.  This gave the board an opportunity to review and update the mission and vision of the organization and reevaluate the strategic pillars set for RCTT. RCTT will debut the new mission, vision, and brand in the near future.

Destination Marketing Association of the West

RCTT’s Marc Sapoznik attended the Destination Marketing Association of the West’s (DMA West) annual Leadership conference. Over 60 CEO’s and Executive Directors from DMOs from across the west gathered for the education event that provides a rare opportunity for the DMO executives to share best practices, address issues of concern to tourism bureaus – from organizational structure to legislative matters – and learn about industry trends. One area of focus involved creating a successful organizational culture and high performing teams. Another major topic addressed is the importance of DMOs having a seat at the table with economic development and destination management. Many large DMOs are playing a bigger role in destination management. The series of operational roundtables and insightful guest speakers allowed Marc to bring back several actionable items.
RCTT's Leena Riggs will be attending DMA West's Education Summit from September 11-13.
